A tough time in my life

King of Queens was an American sitcom that aired on CBS from 1998 to 2007. The show was created by Michael J. Weithorn and David Litt, and it starred Kevin James, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller. The show was set in Queens, New York, and revolved around the lives of Doug and Carrie Heffernan, a working-class couple.

I never watched the King of Queens when it first aired, but about two years ago I was going through a lot in my life. I was under a great deal of stress about my job closing down and having to relocate to a different job. On top of that I was suffering from a bulged disc in my lower spine.

On top of severe pain, I was dealing with a lot of numbness in the lower extremities. These two things compounded to where I wasn't just dealing with anxiety on a huge scale, I actually felt like I was losing my mind. A mental breakdown. I felt short of breath constantly, I had to sit by a window all day just to feel like I was getting adequate air.

I was crying a lot and had this overwhelmingly powerful sense of fear and I had no idea why. I felt broken physically and mentally. It kind of felt like my soul was being attacked. None of that experience was typical for me, I have always been a strong fearless type of person. Which is why it hit me so hard, I didn't understand it, but I was living it.

What really helped me relax and get through it all was the TV show mentioned above: The King of Queens. As I was feeling the way I was, I would put on episodes of this show and I felt calm, and relaxed. And I still watch repeats of this show today, it never gets old. I'm recovered from most of those issues I was having but I still love The King of Queens.

I never knew how stress could mess you up, Now I know. It can do much damage to the body and mind. So, if anyone out there experiences stress or anxiety, please seek help.
